Classroom Management Plan and Grading Policy

 

  • These rules are in addition to, and designed to clarify the discipline policy of

           De Kalb Middle School.

  • Enter the room in a quiet manner with all materials needed for class.  

  • You are tardy for first period until 8:10a.m., after that time you will be counted absent to first period.

  • Talking is permitted if you are addressing the teacher or class on the current topic of discussion.  Just because you raise your hand does not give you permission to talk.

  • The following are not permitted:

    • Talking or disturbing others during class

    • Throwing anything in class (this includes throwing at the trash can)

    • Putting your hands on another student or their property

    • Cheating (including homework that is not yours)

    • Loitering around or getting in teacher’s desk

    • Stealing

    • Sleeping (if your head is down and your eyes are closed-you are sleeping)

    • Destroying or damaging school property or another student’s property

Discipline Action Plan

  1. Non-Verbal Correction (ex. a look by teacher to student)

  2. Verbal Correction (student/teacher conference)

  3. Parent/Teacher Conference

  4. Principal Referral

***You will receive NO verbal warnings or corrections from the teacher for offenses that require prompt attention by the principal.  You will be sent to the office immediately.


Grading Policy

  • A minimum of 12 grades will be taken each nine week period

  • Assignments/Quizzes/Tests and labs will count as one daily grade

  • Unit Assessments will count 15% of student’s overall average

  • Late work will only be accepted as follows:

    • 1 day late – 10 point deduction will be given

Class work not completed by the end of class must be finished as a homework assignment, unless otherwise instructed.

Classroom Rules

  • Treat others as you want to be treated

  • Sharpen your pencils, turn in your work, and begin on the bellringer as soon as you enter the room (HORSE PLAY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED)

  • Do not disturb class in any way

  • Cheating is not acceptable!

Classroom Expectations

  • Always bring needed supplies to class (paper, pencil, folder)

  • Always be respectful to others

  • Participate during class

  • Be responsible for your materials, your work, and your actions

  • Keep your work neat and organized at all times

  • Always do your best!


My conference is daily 9:40-10:25 a.m. I am always available to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your child.
