Who is a Counselor?

Someone who cares about you and what you are going through.  Counselors listen and offer help

A counselor used to be a classroom teacher, but now works in an office doing lots of different things like enrolling new students

Where can you visit me?

In my office

In the classroom

In the hallway

On the playground

In the lunchroom

…wherever you are!

First, ask your teachers – always let someone know where you are

When might you need to see me?

When there are problems at home

When something happens that upsets you

When you have problems at school – such as with grades or friends

When you just need someone to talk to

Sometimes, I get to come to your classroom and talk about something that all of you experience, such as dealing with problems and making good decisions.

Why don’t we take a few moments to talk about good choices?  Can someone give me an example of making a bad choice?  Tell me some things that could have made this situation better for everyone?

Two people want to use something at the same time, like a swing…

Someone falls down at school and gets dirty or hurt….

Someone is crying on the playground…

A few people are taking sides against another person…

Someone is arguing….

A friend calls you a name…

We have to learn and work to find the best solutions to our problems.  We also have to learn to forgive each other and be a good friend.
