VASE 2010

Congressional Art Contest

Jamie Lenth (above), a DeKalb H.S. sophomore is the winner of the 2010 Congressional Contest “An Artistic Discovery”.  She created a mixed media painting, titled “Fashion Sense.”

Each year, the House of Representatives holds an art competition to recognize distinguished student artists by displaying their artwork in the halls of the US Capital. The event is called “An Artistic Discovery” and each Congressional District selects one piece of student artwork to display in the Capital. The competition is headed up by a panel of judges in each district, and the winner is awarded an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C., meet with his or her Member of Congress and attend an award ceremony.

Jamie was presented two Southwest Airline tickets to Washington D.C. by representatives of Southwest Airlines at a reception honoring the top three finalists and will be attending a reception on June 17th in Washington D.C.
