DeKalb ISD receives a $100K grant
• District to issue laptops to students next week

DeKALB, Texas–DeKalb Independent School District has received a $100,000 grant to purchase Chromebooks for every eighth- through 12th-grade student.
Melissa Motes, the district’s Instructional Technology director, said the Texas Education Agency Technology Lending Program grant will also allow the district to purchase wireless hotspots to loan to students who don’t have Internet access after school hours.
The Chromebooks, which will be issued next week, will be especially beneficial to DeKalb High School students who take dual-credit college courses offered by Texarkana College, she said.
